I finally did it. I had contemplated it for years and knew it was inevitable. I was still getting around, but I knew it wouldn’t last much longer. It was time to make a change. Despite my hesitancy to do it, I bit the bullet and finally succumbed to the inevitable.
I got a new car.

I loved my old car, and she had served me so well, so it was not easy. Every time I got into her, I felt like I was sitting in a nest. We were a natural fit, and I could depend on her to get me where I wanted. I loved the way we traveled together, and I arrived with such style. She had met my needs in so many ways for nearly seventeen years. Traveling with her was always perfect.

I knew it was time to move on, but it was hard to let go.
I loved the way things had been.
But change is inevitable. This I know. I learned long ago that we choose the change, or the change chooses us. And, while I got to choose my car, there are things in this season of life that I don’t get to choose.
Tom and I are about to embark on an adventure, otherwise known as our sabbatical. We have done this yearly since. 2009. The preparation took us a little longer and seemed a little more challenging. The catastrophes were a little more significant, but we have made it out the door.
We will fly commercially to Lisbon and revisit this area. We walked from here in 2015 and have always loved Portugal. While in this area, we will visit some friends in Palmela for a few days and then up to Porto. We will take a bit of a holiday meandering and acclimating before landing in A Coruna, Spain, where we will begin walking the Camino Ingles from Ferrol.
After that, we will meet a group of friends for another short walk along the Camino and finish up in Finisterre. We finish our sabbatical in the south of Spain after visiting Ronda, Malaga, and then on to Rota, where we will return home with the US military via Space-A.

While we may not be walking several hundred miles transversing the country or picking our destinations on a whim, we will certainly see an area of Spain we have not visited before. Our pace may be a little slower, but I am thankful to be on the road again. And, as always, we are in the best company; who could ask for more?
You are loved…
You two are such an inspiration!! Safe and happy travels!
