We heard this area was stunning and with a name like Swan Lake how could anyone go wrong? After our stay along Flat Head Lake we decided to meander onward. We had hoped to get into Glacier National Park but for a variety of reasons we were unable to go. Our RV surpassed the cut off length and, we heard the line to get in was atrocious. We met some fellow travelers who mentioned Swan Lake and we were captivated by their stories and descriptions. So we headed on over and decided to camp in the National Forest.
These drives are spectacular and we are absorbed in each moment along our way. We arrived at the campground and introduced ourselves to the host. We asked if there were any spots available and he thought their might be one left. We headed on over and found the last unreserved spot. Just as we began to back in a woman approached us and said that she and her husband had decided to leave and we were welcome to have their spot. While our place was great, theirs was spectacular! We thanked them and moved in.
We hiked on over to the lake and absorbed its warmth and beauty. Next we walked on over to the general store where Tom and I shared an ice cream. We swam for a while and then headed back to our campsite. We have begun the practice of indulging ourselves in a cocktail hour before dinner. We set up our table, light a candle, and have some chacuterie and a beverage. If needed we light a fire and relax and enjoy some time together before our dinner meal. After our meal we sit out by the fire and perfect our skills at Farkle or cribbage or any of the other games we have brought along.
We hear there is going to be a rapid decrease in the temperature with increased winds and thunderstorms. We have decided to hunker in and enjoy our cozy home as the weather changes. We have grown accustomed to our life on the road and look forward to the adventures that lie ahead!
Carpe Diem!
Oh, just fabulous! Such sweet memoirs being laid in for future table talk! Keep on trekking!
