After leaving Nasbinals, we noticed an interesting phenomenon on the trail. Over the next few days, we would see an increase in these seemingly random signs. At first, it piqued my interest, but by the time I was on the road to St. Come d’Alt, I knew it was personal. This mysterious occurrence began to intensify, and I was convinced it was a divine gift from God. I was determined to meet the deliverer of this gift.
On the trail, engraved on the path, were approximately two-foot crosses with the initials N & T. Seeing them was exciting, and I knew they were meant for Tom and me. We encountered several fellow pilgrims, and while none claimed to be the author, they all noticed them and shared in our excitement.

I used my tracking skills and, at one point, believed the markings to be fresh. When I looked up the trail, I saw a young couple kneeling on the road and called out to them. Wait, I asked, what is your name? Natalia and Tonio came their response, N & T! I explained that we were N & T as well, Nancy & Tomas. They explained that they were taking this pilgrimage and had committed it as a time of prayer. They acknowledged their commitment each time they marked the road with the cross.

These crosses continued to guide our path and soon, there were two Ts and two Ns. When this young couple realized our ages (we were the oldest people on the trail), they insisted on checking in on us daily and every evening to ensure we were safe and sound. Sometimes, we wanted to walk off-trail, and much to our chagrin, they would run to point out the marked road, but ultimately, knowing that we were being looked after was a comforting feeling.

This was one of the many gifts along the way, with the breathtaking landscapes, the camaraderie of fellow pilgrims, and the moments of solitude and reflection. This was one of our favorites and, yes, we took this personally as a reminder from our Creator.
We are loved.
As are you.
