As much as I cherish the thrill of a new journey, there is a unique comfort in the thought of returning home. After all these years, this sentiment remains unchanged. I’ve always said that as happy as I am to leave on a journey, is as happy as I am to return from my travels. While I have relished my time on the road, my heart now yearns for the familiar embrace of home. We are southward bound!

Leaving behind the cherished memories of Banff, we journeyed through British Columbia and then Washington, where our daughter resides. The longing for home was partially fulfilled as Crystal welcomed us with open arms. Our favorite things awaited us: the comforting presence of family, a few bottles of fine wine, warm baguettes with goat cheese, and the always-appreciated rum-nougat chocolates..

Our next stop was Oregon, where we visited Tom’s brother, who has been battling health issues. Their sister, Judy, also came up for this visit, which was a heartwarming reunion for the Stoeckel siblings. After bidding them farewell, we continued our leisurely journey through the scenic rural roads of the Pacific Northwest, with a week left before reaching home.

We continued to find hidden treasures along our way. One evening, we stumbled upon Big Al’s in Ashland, Oregon, a place that seemed to have been frozen in time. We met Michael, who appears to have mastered genuine kindness, and enjoyed our time with him.

We drove over the Bluett Pass and into Mt. Shasta. We were in awe of the majestic height of the mountain ranges and the raw beauty of the volcanos, their peaks piercing the sky and their slopes covered in snow.
Amidst the countless enchanting moments and unexpected delights, I found my greatest joy was our time together. Our list of things to do was replaced by things to experience, which made for quite the adventure. I love that we have planned our next trip.

You are loved.
