Sigueiro, Spain

The walk to Sigueiro was stunning. And, after yesterday’s nearly twenty miles, today’s seventeen miles was a piece of cake. The weather was perfect, and the scenery was picturesque. It was my reward for yesterday’s arduous walk.

Sigueriro is the capital of Orosco, a province of A Coruna. It is surrounded by two rivers, the River Tambre and the River Lenguelle, which make this a rich agricultural region. I found it stunning as we walked through this region, and never tired of the bountiful crops. The beauty and near solitude gave me ample time to contemplate many facets of my life. I have been too absorbed in too many things to take the time to experience this kind of beauty in my own life. I am not happy when I am existing and not living. These moments along the trail remind me of this, and I pray not to forget this when I get home.

I also had the opportunity to walk with two lovely young ladies from Kentucky. It was nice to share some time and conversation with them. This is another of my favorite parts about my walkabouts-hearing people’s life stories. I learned so much about life and gained perspective when hearing these stories. These two would be a joy to me through this walk in many ways.

We stayed in a lovely place, Pension Vilanova, where Isabella took such good care of us. It was a bit off the beaten path but perfect for us. We walked into town for dinner and got home right before the storm. It was the perfect end of a lovely day.

Onward we go.

Buen Camino. You are loved…
