It was a cool morning as we left Navrone. It is easier for me when I start when the weather is cool. The temperatures would be in the low seventies, with a warming trend coming. In the next few days, the highs would be in the mid-80s. There are days I long for that to be the high, but not necessarily on the days I walk through the hills and over fifteen miles.

According to our guidebook, we would climb fairly steeply out of Narone and then once again as we entered Pontedeume. The middle section would be a variety of ups and downs.
I wake up early each morning excited for what the day will bring. I think I am a little nervous as well, hoping I will be able to make the steep ascents and I be able persevere. My confidence usually improves as the days go by.

The trail is beautiful, with a mixture of small villages and country roads. We usually walk a few hours and find a spot in town for a cold drink and a small snack. I have come to treasure my Coca-Cola and lemon fix each midmorning. Here, we often encounter people we have met previously and spend a few minutes catching up.

It is the simplicity of this routine, along with the beauty of my trail, that makes it perfect for me.
Betanzo tomorrow…

Buen Camino
