Camino Ingles

The Camino Ingles is approximately 113 km long and begins in A Coruna, Spain, in the village of Ferrol. It has been used since the 12th century when pilgrims from England and the Nordic countries arrived in the ports of Northern Spain to continue their Way to Santiago, Spain. Records show that in 1434, over 3,000 pilgrims disembarked in the Port of A Coruna. We are excited to be here where so many have gone before.

We chose this Way because we had not been in this region before and we thought it would be a good walk for us before we connected with our friends. We love Galicia and, so we were excited to do this walk. There is a rich Naval history, and we both found this extremely interesting.

It was an exciting start to the morning. We saw two women nearly carry a man approximately 50 years old who looked like he had a stroke. He wanted to walk the Camino one more time. They had help if needed along the Way, and he would go as far as possible each day. It was a touching sight, and having walked the Camino many times, I truly appreciate all that is involved here. We met a family from Central America who was walking in honor of a family member who had recently passed. Three generations were walking and stopped numerous times to leave something along the Way. We knew it was significant but did not need to know all the details to see how personal this was to them.

As for us, we are happy to be together and on the Way again. It has been a few years since we have had the opportunity to do this together. This time is much needed, and we look forward to all that is yet to be. Kindness abounds, and I still cry over these random moments of unexpected goodness.

I am excited to see what lies ahead.
Buen Camino. You are loved…
