Finishing Strong

fullsizeoutput_6f74It was hard to leave Lima, Montana. Our hosts were both gracious and generous and they spared nothing to ensure we had a wonderful time. It was hard to say goodbye and we knew it would be even harder to find someplace as nice as this to stay. The bar had been set very high.

It was extremely difficult to find something last minute in or close to the Big Three: Tetons, Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. So we did the next best thing. We looked for something within a fifty-mile radius. We were successful and found a lovely RV Park and Golf Course in Ashton, Idaho. It was fantastic!

fullsizeoutput_6f65We drove through endless miles of wheat field and blue skies until we found this perfect spot. Set-up was easy and since our rigs were near the 9th hole it seemed only reasonable to play a round of golf. It was a lovely and fairly easy course and everyone was doing well until the wind picked up. Suddenly the clouds swirled in over us and lightening began to hit the ground. The next thing we knew, ice cube size hail began to hit the ground. We were within minutes of our homes so we quickly took cover. It was a glorious site to behold.

We headed to Yellowstone the next day to crisp and clear blue skies. Here we watched Old Faithful erupt as she has done faithfully for hundreds of years. This highly predictable geothermal feature erupts every 44 to 120 minutes day in and day out. We were thrilled to watch her blow. We headed over to Firehole Drive where we were able to see geysers, pools, mudpots, and fumaroles. Exquisite!

fullsizeoutput_6f24The Tetons have always been one of my favorite places to be and this visit was no exception. They were glorious in all their majesty. We noted a lot of people riding their bikes along these trails and we thought this was a good idea as well.

Jackson Hole is a quirky little town and is a stop over for most people traveling in this direction. We had a fabulous lunch and shopped at a variety of eclectic shops. You could buy anything from feathers to fur coats in the same shop. We had a nice time visiting this area.

Version 2When it came time to leave we struggled a bit. It was hard to think that our time had passed so quickly and we needed to head homeward. We have grown accustomed to our life on the road and with our friends. With a few days left we  needed to decide on a route home. We decided to go through both Tahoe and Truckee over the next few days. Now, I have traveled many places in my life but I have never been to Lake Tahoe. So this was the last of my bucket list items (first edition bucket list) and I must say we had a fantastic time. We hiked, rode our bikes and just enjoyed the beauty that is this area.

Seizing the day…always.
