We have a dear friend who owns a lovely condo in Ketchum, Idaho, which is about a mile and a half from it’s well known neighbor Sun Valley. When she heard we were going to be in this area she generously offered her place to us. We considered and accepted her offer because we had to pass this area to meet our friends and thought it might be nice to switch it up a bit and stretch out and catch up on a little business. It is a beautiful area.
Nestled in the heart of the ski village is a beautiful array of condominiums surrounded by lush trees and blue skies. Although we were here in what they might consider their off-season, we could still see and feel the excitement that must come alive during ski season. The Edelweiss Hotel, the ski shops and the coffee and pastry shops were at rest but one could imagine all that transpires when winter comes. It felt as if we had entered another world.
I must admit it took me a little time to transition from our camping life to this rather luxurious life. A beautiful fireplace that lit with touch of your hand, a full kitchen with all the amenities, a queen size bed and a full bathroom for each of us. I remembered when we hiked along the Camino in Spain and would enter a larger town after days on the trail. It always took me awhile to transition there as well and so I knew it would happen here too.
We spent some time in town where we there were some wonderful things to see and do. It was a charming hamlet and was once the home Ernest Hemmingway. There were a few places that held some of his memorabilia. The bus system is free and once we figured it out enjoyed the opportunity to see the area this area this way.
Tomorrow we head to Twin Falls and connect with our friends. Let the festivities begin!
Carpe Diem!
