After a few days with Crystal and in our typical gyspy fashion we decided to head on over to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. We called to see if we could get a reservation at a lovely campground with a lakeside view and free firewood! Our daughter reminded us that we were soon coming upon Labor Day Weekend and reservations might be hard to come by in the near future. I have to admit it was a bit of a surprise when I heard that we were in September already!
We have decided to stay for a while in this area and catch our breath. This is a beautiful place and we love the cool weather, blue skies and green forests all around us. We have met the kindest people.
There is an estuary that leads to the lake so we take the red canoe to explore the waterways. We have seen an eagle and a turtle. We row in the warm sun and feel the breeze upon our backs. We think we can conquer anything on these days.
We hike along the trails around us and savor the smell of the air. Even the dirt smells good. Tom continues to perfect his BBQ skills and each night we enjoy a lovely meal as we watch the sun set over the lake.
We took Uber into town one day just to meander along the beach and downtown area. Our dear friend Louie told us to have an Old-fashion at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. He gave us specific instructions, which we followed. It was delightful to sit on the deck over the water with the wind at our backs enjoying a lovely appetizer and our drink. We walked about four miles into town to pick up some cherries for our own Old-fashions. We look forward to sharing with our friends when we connect.
We are perfecting our board game skills, cribbage, farkle and 10,000. Who knows what is next!
We are enjoying the fullness of these days. We will be heading on over to Montana soon to the Flat Lake area. No reservations yet, we shall see what is out there. We know we will be fine as we have everything we need with us.
Carpe Diem!
