Norman Island is an Island at the southern tip of the British Virgin Islands and is said to be the inspiration of Robert Louis Stevenson’s pirate novel Treasure Island. It would certainly seem appropriate as we moored in a place named Blight Bay and had lunch on a replica of an old schooner ship which is docked in the harbor. Legend has it that this island is named after a pirate who bought it to stash his booty in the eighteenth century. Many stories remain today that give this island a unique personality.
We are settling in to a routine and getting familiar with the sailor’s life. It is incredibly beautiful and luxurious. We have an avid fisherman on board who drops his line along the way and we all wait expectantly for the sound of the line music, that moment when the fish has taken the bait and runs with the line. He has been very successful and we have enjoyed both black-fin tuna and mackerel. We have a BBQ aboard and there is nothing like fresh grilled fish while out on the sea as the sun sets out on the horizon.
Our days are filled with calm seas, warm breezes, phenomenal sunsets, and the joy of being with good friends. Excited to see what tomorrow brings.
