We have decided to stay for a while and just enjoy this area. It is spectacular and photos do not do it justice. Each and every moment is picture card perfect and we are trying to take it all in. We have found a wonderful little village to stay and enjoy life.
When guests arrive and plan to stay in these villages they are required to fill out a tourist registration card. For a small daily fee-about $1.50 you are given a CONUS card which allows you free travel on all forms of travel, free admittance to museums and entrance into most local events. Our little village is strategically located near some transportation hubs and we have decided to utilize this form of travel for a while. We actually love meeting and talking to people along the way so this is perfect for us. We are learning so much.
We went into Frierburg which is in Baden-Württemberg and straddles the Dreisam River. It is considered a hub of the Black Forest and Upper Rhine Plain. This is a university town and alive with the vitality of youth amidst its’ medieval buildings and infrastructure. It was a perfect combination as we spent the day taking a walking tour of the city and then took public transportation along the city perimeter. It was gorgeous and we were able to get a great overview. We had a lovely lunch of warm soup and a sandwich in an outdoor cafe and watch people walk by.
We picked a few towns just to visit for a day. Places like St Peter, St Margen, Breitnau, and Titisee-Neustadt. When we walk the Camino we end up in a new place each day and just absorb the activities of that village. Sometimes it is a local festival or a farmers market or even a chess game. Almost every village has a farmers market and food trucks which really are small restaurants and markets. We try something new in each village and have yet to be disappointed. It has been a culinary delight to say the least and we are developing some favorites.
We are content here and the rest seems to soothe our souls. These are easy days and we are enjoying these moments of delight. We think you would be in awe of this area as well. All this beauty reminds us of you. You are loved…
